Day 1

Pick up from your hotel at approximately 1am for the drive to Cairo.

Visit the Cairo Museum, the largest museum in Egypt which houses over 120,000 artifacts from ancient Egypt.  You will have the opportunity to explore some of the highlights of the Museum such as the Royal Mummy room, the Animal Mummy room and the gold treasures room of Tutankhamun where you will see his famous gold mask.  Please note there is an extra ticket fee if you wish to enter the Royal Mummy room. 

 

After visiting the Cairo Museum spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of Downtown Cairo on this optional excursion - sailing on the River Nile on a traditional sail boat, a Felucca.  This is a great opportunity to relax, unwind and enjoy life on the Nile. 

Please note this is an optional tour with an extra cost of 50 EGP per person.

 

 

Enjoy lunch at one of the best authentic restaurants in Cairo with a Nile view.

 

 

 

Visit the Giza Plateau, home of the famous Pyramids, the greatest of the Seven Wonders of the World and the only one still in existence and the Sphinx, the largest single block sculpture of all times.  Enjoy the beautiful panoramic views of the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Khafre and Menkaure which are surrounded by the Sahara Desert.  Take your photos or ride on camel or horseback through the sand dunes which lay beside the monumental pyramid complex. 

Please note there is an extra ticket fee to enter the pyramids or visit the Solar Museum.

Day 2

After breakfast at your hotel you will visit the Salah el Din Citadel which encompasses the mosques of Mohammed Ali and Sultan Qalawun and houses the Police and Military Museums.  There is also the Well of Joseph, 90 metres deep which was the only water supply for the entire Citadel complex.  Situated on an area of Muqattam Hill the Citadel offers visitors grand views over Cairo and is a great spot for taking photos of the City, the Nile and even the Pyramids.

 

 

Sample popular dishes such as Foul (fava beans), Falafel (chickpeas with spices) and Babaganoush (eggplant dip), during your lunch which will be served in one of Cairo’s most famous restaurants, Felfela.

 

 

 

 

 

After lunch you will explore the streets of Coptic Cairo and Old Cairo.  This is an opportunity to see how the past and the present work together and how different faiths live and mix in Cairo.   You will visit:

* The Hanging Church 

* The Church of Abu Serga 

* Ben Ezra’s Temple 

* Amr Ben Elaas Mosque

-     As this tour departs Sharm at approximately 1am we advise that you ask your hotel to provide you with a breakfast box to enjoy during your journey.

-     Two rest stops are provided each way of the journey if you require food or bathrooms.

-     Ticket prices for optional sites as mentioned are as follows:

   o        Royal Mummy room at Egyptian Museum – 100 LE

   o        Entrance into the Great Pyramid (Cheops) – 100 LE

   o        Entrance into Khafre Pyramid – 30 LE
